A late chronographic tablet extending the ancient king-list genre all the way to Hellenistic Seleucid rulers argues that Babylonian scribes still framed even a Macedonian-descended king as the latest link in an unbroken chain of legitimate Mesopotamian kingship stretching back to Gilgamesh.
