Annals of Tiglath-Pileser I
Assyria's most extensive Middle Assyrian royal inscription, recording some sixty campaigns against Aramean, Anatolian, and Levantine peoples along with hunting exploits, argues, well before Ashurnasirpal II perfected the genre three centuries later, that a continuous first-person military narrative was already the preferred form for Assyrian royal self-presentation.
