Paulisa Siddhanta, one of five astronomical treatises Varahamihira surveys centuries later in the Pancasiddhantika, without which it would not survive at all, reflects the same era's absorption of Hellenistic astronomical technique into Sanskrit scientific literature. Ujjain is only its conventional Indian astronomical reference point; the actual place of composition is unknown.
