Old Akkadian Cylinder Seal Inscriptions

Cylinder seals inscribed with an official's name, title, and reigning king, among them the celebrated seal of Ibni-sharrum, scribe of Shar-kali-sharri, argue that a small carved stone rolled across wet clay could carry as much bureaucratic authority and personal identity as a written document.
